Frequently Asked Questions
Why do people need regular carpet cleaning?
Carpet is actually designed to HIDE dirt, and if you clean
it only after you let it get really visibly dirty, the damage of wearing
down your carpet is already done. If you can see what a dirty carpet might
look like, imagine what you CAN’T see with the naked eye. If you or your
children suffer from allergies or asthma or if pets are a part of your
family, vacuuming your carpet twice a week and deep cleaning at least 4
times annually is recommended. The more regularly you clean your carpets,
the less dirt and pet dander will be ground into the base of the carpet.
And – let’s fact it – when your carpet smells, your whole house does
too! But these tough organic odors are no match for Carpet Care Plus’s
deodorizers, designed to attack odor-causing organic sources
leaving your carpet smelling fresh and clean again. The way we see it –
if you call us – that means your carpets are dirty and our goal is to
get them looking as good (or better) than they have in years! Even new
carpet could be holding various germs, dirt and dust mites either in the
carpet itself or in the padding or the concrete underneath. When a home is
built, the carpet layers do not actually ‘clean’ the concrete prior to
laying the carpet. In most cases, they only sweep up the dirt and begin
laying the carpet pad and then the carpet. Whatever was done in the home
prior to carpet being installed will remain on the concrete floor and will
eventually seep its way into the carpet fibers. It is always a great idea
to have the carpets in new homes cleaned by a professional cleaning
service like ours that can remove all these dangers.
What are the health
benefits of regular carpet cleaning?
Most people don’t realize what is hiding deep down in the
fibers of their carpet, rugs, furniture – even their draperies and
mattresses! Carpets may look clean but may still be a breeding ground for
germs, bacteria and other micro-organisms. Lying in the carpets of your
home is not only dust, dirt and grime but a combination of other things
like various odors, fleas from your pets, dead skin & hair and a variety
of common household allergens that create a feeding frenzy for dust mites!
There could also be a vast assortment of bacteria that can spread through
your home like wildfire by way of simple human contact & movement.
Allergy-causing contaminates such as pet hair or pollen can get into
carpets and affect family members long after the allergy season or pet has
gone. Regular vacuuming helps to keep the indoor air quality cleaner but,
in a recent study by a former Deputy Director of the EPA Environmental
Criteria and Assessment Office, typical vacuuming does not reduce fine
particle levels. Fine particles of less than seven microns pass through
most vacuum cleaning bags. These small particles tend to build up over
time and are released back into the indoor air, thus having the greatest
potential to cause harm as they penetrate deep into the human lungs. The
EPA indicates that the most effective way to fully remove contaminates
from your carpet is through hot water cleaning and extraction or steam
cleaning – the exact type of service Carpet Care Plus offers! This
is the next best thing to throwing your carpet into a washing machine and
flushing out all the contaminants. Our specially formulated cleaning
agents are safe for children, pets and allergy sensitive people. Freshly
cleaned carpet in your home, vehicle and/or business will make you feel
healthier and will smell cleaner and fresher!
How can regular
carpet cleaning by a professional SAVE you money?
Your carpet and furniture are investments in your home. Over time, carpets can become thin and dull due to heavy traffic and old age. Grease, tar, oil, etc. tracked in from kitchens, garages and driveways will do serious damage to your carpet fibers. If not cleaned properly – and regularly – carpeting can easily require premature replacement. In much the same way as sandpaper can grind down a piece of wood, small particles of dirt that are trapped in your carpet can actually cut and tear at carpet fibers. This will not only thin your carpet and cause it to feel less comfortable, but it will also detract from its appearance. The most effective defense against carpet wear is frequent cleaning. Drinks like coffee, tea, soda and children’s drinks as well as some foods can attach permanently to carpet fibers, creating stains that are difficult or impossible to remove. Our Scotchguard Protectant reduces penetration of spills and allows for easier removal of soil when vacuuming and for future cleanings which actually makes your carpet last longer. What makes Carpet
